TMETAL delivers steel structures for bridges, revolving towers and technological platforms designed for the transport of excavated material while tunelling a new railway under the Brenner Pass.

The Brenner base tunnel, linking Austrian Innsbruck and Italian Fortezza, will replace the existing unsuitable rail connection after its completion in 2026. The tunnel will be 55 km long and, together with the existing underground bypass of Innsbruck, will reach a total length of 64 kilometers, making it the longest tunnel in the world. It will overtake the Gotthard tunnel, which has held the first position since 2016 with its 57 km. The new connection should significantly accelerate and streamline rail transport to the south, thereby simultaneously relieving motorway traffic between Central and Southern Europe.
